A few years after completing a college program in computer engineering technology, Utsav Banerji decided to upgrade his education.
With his eye set on a university degree, he opted for the Bachelor of Technology degree in computing and information technology.
“It was the perfect fit because I got transfer credits and was able to complete the program and earn my degree in a little less than two years,” says the 2012 BTech grad.
Less than a decade after earning that degree, Banerji is now a program manager in cloud program with the Google Kubernetes Engine team.
“I work very closely with the engineering and product teams on a daily basis,” he says. “Being with Google and coming this far has certainly been my career highlight.”
“I love working with technology that is ever changing, that helps counter the problems in our everyday lives and that challenges our minds to think on new frontiers.”
Banerji launched his career working on management and technology consulting projects for three years with Accenture before moving to RBC Capital Markets for two years.
He’s spent the last three years working for Google out of Toronto, in various project management roles.
“The relevance of my academic experience has certainly contributed immensely to the progression of my professional career,” he says.
His advice to students? “Believe in your strengths, pursue your passion and never give up.”
