Why did you choose the BTech Degree Completion Program? 

The Degree Completion program allowed me to study a topic that I was passionate about in College. It then provided me with an opportunity to extend my knowledge and continue my studies at McMaster by studying Software Engineering. This ultimately provided me with a wider range of skills, two academic opportunities, and more future study pathways leading out of McMaster.

What is your favourite part of the program? 

Being a part of the BTech program at McMaster has provided me with many fun opportunities, my favourite of which have been extracurriculars. Being in a University environment presents you with so many ways to get involved outside the classroom. During my time at McMaster I have been involved with extracurricular sports, and joined the BTech Association as a Program Rep for the Degree Completion Program. These experiences have allowed me to meet so many great people, learn from them and their experiences, and expand my McMaster experience beyond pure academics.

What opportunities will the BTech degree help you to pursue?

In terms of future academic pathways, the BTech degree has positioned me nicely to be able to pursue a few different options. A major pathway out of this program is graduate school. I am very interested in McMaster’s Master of Engineering Design program.  For someone looking to pursue a P.Eng., you can consult with the PEO and take specific exams that will provide you with your P.Eng. Designation. There are many future study pathways to explore once I complete the BTech program. I am excited to explore which option may be right for me. 

Why do you recommend this program? 

I believe in achieving as much education as you can, while you can. The BTech Degree Completion program at McMaster has allowed me to study and extend my education, and has provided me pathways in the future to continue learning. I would recommend this program in a heart-beat to anybody that is graduating from a College program and is looking to further their education. There is no right pathway; there are traditional routes, but I think it’s important that everybody finds what works for them. For me, it was the BTech Degree Completion Program.
