NSERC CREATE MedPEM program

Training future leaders in the personal protective equipment (PPE) sector

The NSERC CREATE MedPEM program is designed to train highly qualified personnel (HQP) in the medical personal protective equipment (PPE) sector

Leveraging collaborations among several Canadian universities and leading PPE companies, MedPEM responds to the increased demand for medical PPE due to recent global crises, aiming to make Canada internationally competitive in this field.

The program combines technical training, industry experience, and professional development to prepare specialists for the rapidly growing PPE industry.

About the program

MedPEM training program will focus on technical and domain knowledge, fundamental principles, skills training as well as on professional training and career development, through both new technical seminars and experiential learning opportunities.

The program objectives are to:

Create a world-class training program in medical protective equipment and materials

Train a diverse cohort of HQP, from undergraduate (UG) students to postdoctoral fellows, within a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary environment.

Develop transferable professional skills in HQP such as communication, entrepreneurship, project management and ethics required within the corporate, academic and not-for-profit sectors.
