Our full-day, in-person summer camps at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario offer students an exciting opportunity to explore engineering through hands-on, interactive activities. Designed and led by undergraduate students from McMaster’s prestigious Faculty of Engineering, these programs provide high-quality instruction and mentorship.

Students will engage in real-world engineering challenges, develop critical thinking skills, and gain exposure to various engineering fields. The camp is also supported by McMaster professors and staff, offering expert guidance and fostering a collaborative learning environment. It’s a unique chance to learn, connect, and gain insight into a future in engineering.

Offered 7 weeks in summer

Engineering Explorations: Grades 3-9

Engineering Explorations: Grades 3-9
Throughout the camp, students will engage in a variety of practical projects, including a chemistry lab, circuit building, and soldering workshops. These activities are designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of engineering, while also promoting the development of digital literacy and critical thinking skills. By participating in the program, students will gain a deeper understanding of engineering design principles, explore the interconnectedness of STEAM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics), and apply these concepts to real-world challenges.

This immersive, hands-on learning environment encourages creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving, helping students develop both technical and collaborative skills. Whether students are building circuits, coding, exploring chemical reactions, or designing innovative solutions, the program provides them with a rich, engaging experience that sparks curiosity and inspires future careers in engineering.

Students entering Grade 3 or 9 as of September 2025 should enrol in this program.

The one-week program is offered for 7 different weeks of the summer. The content is repeated for all weeks of the summer.

Engineering Discovery: Grades 3-9

Engineering Discovery: Grades 3-9
Throughout the camp, students will have the opportunity to engage in a variety of activities, including biology and 3D printing labs, as well as physics experiments. These labs and projects provide a deep dive into the fundamentals of engineering and other STEM disciplines, offering a unique, hands-on approach to learning. In addition to lab work, students will participate in several engaging workshops, where they will explore engineering design, develop digital literacy skills, and apply STEAM concepts to real-world challenges.

The Engineering Discovery camp goes beyond just teaching technical concepts. It fosters the development of critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills while promoting teamwork and collaboration. Students will work together to tackle engineering challenges, test their ideas, and learn through trial and error, ensuring a thorough understanding of how STEM concepts come to life in real-world applications.

This immersive program also emphasizes the intersection of various STEM fields, helping students appreciate how disciplines like biology, physics, and engineering work together to solve complex problems. By the end of the camp, students will not only have a deeper understanding of these fields but also the skills and confidence to apply what they’ve learned in future academic and professional pursuits.

The one-week program is offered for eight different weeks of the summer. The content is repeated for all weeks of the summer. Please note “Week 1” is a 3-day week due to the Canada day on July 1, 2025

Offered 6 weeks in summer

Engineering Immersive Experience: Grades 9-12

The Engineering Immersive Experience program offers an exceptional opportunity for students to engage deeply with a broad spectrum of STEM disciplines through hands-on, interactive learning. By incorporating laboratory work and activities across fields such as biology, chemistry, physics, and engineering techniques—including 3D printing and soldering—the program delivers a comprehensive educational experience that encourages exploration, creativity, and innovation.

Throughout the program, students will participate in a week-long engineering project, enabling them to apply their knowledge in a real-world context. This project-based approach allows students to refine their technical skills while enhancing their problem-solving abilities. By working on collaborative, practical challenges, students gain a deeper understanding of how diverse STEM fields intersect and complement one another, fostering both interdisciplinary knowledge and teamwork.

This immersive learning experience not only motivates students but also equips them with the skills and insights needed to tackle real-world engineering challenges.
