Bachelor of Engineering from Chemical Engineering department of Zhejiang University, China in 1982. He received his doctoral degree from McMaster University in 1991 under the supervision of Dr. Archie Hamielec. He joined McMaster as a faculty member in Chemical Engineering and Materials Engineering department in 1991. His research passion lies on the advancement of polymer science and engineering.
Shiping Zhu has trained over 120 Master’s, PhD’s, PDF’s and other highly qualified personnel. He has published 350 technical articles in refereed journals, presented 200 conferences, and delivered over 120 invited seminars, with over 10,000 SCI citations. He received the Ontario Premier’s Research Excellence Award, Chemical Institute of Canada’s Macromolecular Science and Engineering Award, Canadian Society of Chemical Engineering’s R.S. Jane Memorial Award, McMaster Faculty of Engineering’s Research Achievement Award, and Zhejiang Province’s West-Lake Friendship Award.
Shiping Zhu holds a Canada Research Chair (Tier 1) in Polymer Reaction Engineering. He is an elected Fellow of the Chemical Institute of Canada (FCIC), Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering (FCAE), Fellow of the Engineering Institute of Canada (FEIC), and Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada (FRSC).
