“McMaster Engineering gave me the tools and the fundamentals I needed to succeed in the work that I do today,” says Waguih Ishak, recently retired president and chief technologist for Corning Research and Development Corporation and former international graduate student at Mac Eng. From his own experience, he was inspired to give back to students coming from abroad.

What started as a humble student-led, student-funded program has grown into an established endowment fund of approximately $5.5 million. Over $1 million in project funding from the interest of the fund has been disbursed over two decades, supporting everything from upgraded labs and spaces for collaboration.

Cosmos Voutsinos (Mechanical Engineering ’76), and his wife Donna have included a gift in their wills to establish a scholarship in support of Mechanical Engineering graduate students who demonstrate academic and research excellence.
