Distinguished alumnus and renowned technology leader, Tom Jenkins, will deliver the next John Hodgins Memorial Lecture – a community event on McMaster University’s campus.
Jenkins, who graduated from McMaster with a degree in Engineering Physics and Management in 1982 and received an honorary doctorate in 2015, has been a pivotal figure in the technology sector for more than four decades. As the Chair of the Board of OpenText, Jenkins has played a significant role in the development and deployment of transformative technologies that have reshaped industries and society.
The lecture, titled “The Practical Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Today’s Society,” will explore the profound impact of AI on engineering design, product delivery and service management. Jenkins will discuss the challenges and opportunities presented by AI tools, such as ChatGPT, and the development of data lakes and information management systems that drive innovation behind the scenes.
“Artificial intelligence is revolutionizing the way we approach engineering and business,” says Jenkins. “Understanding and effectively adopting these new tools is crucial for staying ahead in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.”
