The McMaster University W Booth School of Engineering Practice and Technology today announced plans for a unique, in-person gathering of change makers devoted to sharing ideas, tools, and experiences to help advance innovation in engineering practice and education.

The inaugural International Conference on Engineering Practice and Innovative Knowledge (EPIK) will take place June 1-3, 2022 in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada at the Marriott on the Falls hotel.

Registration is now open and early-bird prices are available.

Dr. Roberta Bondar — astronaut, physician, scientist, and photographer — will be the featured speaker. A full roster of speakers, presenters, panelists, and facilitators is in development by conference organizers through outreach to prominent thought leaders, practitioners, and associations.

This multidisciplinary conference is designed to attract delegates representing a range of sectors, including higher education, industry, government, and civil society.

“Our aim is to demonstrate the impact of people and organizations from diverse fields working together to address significant challenges,” said conference chair and McMaster Engineering faculty member Dr. Gail Krantzberg. “We want to help attendees design, deliver and evaluate game-changing practices at the classroom, company and community levels.”

Themed “New Frontiers in Community Collaboration,” the conference program will offer three complementary streams:

  1. The Collaborative Imperative: Why and how engineering practice is changing to meet complex global needs
  2. Trends in Technological Innovation: Ways change makers are developing and deploying new and emerging technologies for a sustainable future
  3. Fresh Approaches in Engineering Education: Mould breaking responses to the unprecedented challenges of our time

Each stream will feature topics at the leading edge of engineering practice, education, and technology.

The W Booth School of Engineering Practice and Technology is part of the Faculty of Engineering at McMaster University and offers unique project-based, industry focused learning in undergraduate and graduate degree programs.
