When C.F. Crozier & Associates Inc. (Crozier) was named as one of Canada’s Top Small & Medium Employers for 2024 by Mediacorp Canada Inc. for the second year in a row, McMaster Engineering was cheering from the sidelines.
The leading consulting engineering firm was founded in 2004 by Mac Eng alumnus, Chris Crozier, and has expanded to five offices across Ontario. Mac Eng grads and co-op students are routinely hired and find great success in the firm. At McMaster, Crozier supports a bursary for aspiring engineers.
Chris is a prominent Engineering and Management graduate who maintains strong connections with the university and continues to support the engineering program.
The Fireball Family lives strong within Crozier. With many graduates currently in the company, I am surrounded by many wonderful friends and colleagues who bring that passion and Mac Eng pride to the firm every day.
Engineering and Management alumni, like Chris, benefit from studying an engineering discipline while taking business courses and often find an accelerated career trajectory to senior leadership roles or build their own businesses.
Crozier has provided engineering services to projects like TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley – home to 2025’s RBC Canadian Open, MDA Space’s global headquarters in Brampton, Conestoga College’s Recreation Centre, STACKT market in Toronto, many residential development projects, and more.
For his transformative impact, accomplishments and contributions in engineering, Chris was named the Faculty of Engineering’s L.W. Shemilt Distinguished Alumni Award winner in 2023.

How did your McMaster education in the Engineering and Management program support your career trajectory?
McMaster’s Engineering and Management program provided me with the foundation I needed to start my career with confidence. As I progressed and later founded an engineering company, I relied heavily on many of the business courses of the Engineering and Management program. The friendships and relationships I maintained along my journey have supported me both professionally and personally.
What does the two-time honour as one of Canada’s Top Small and Medium-Sized Employers mean to you as founder and CEO?
Receiving recognition for Canada’s Top Small & Medium Employers for the second consecutive year is such an honour. When I started the firm 20 years ago, I could not have imagined how the business would impact so many lives. Some employees have been with us for much of the 20 years and it has been my privilege watching their careers flourish. It is our people who make Crozier a great place to work and allow us to receive these recognitions.
What qualities do you see in McMaster Engineering co-op students that encourage you to hire them for your business?
Qualities we have seen in McMaster’s Engineering co-op students are curiosity, great work ethic and a high regard to the industry – there’s a certain level of care that is instilled from the school that many walk away with.
How are Mac Eng graduates contributing to your business success?
We have been fortunate to attract many successful Mac Eng graduates who now sit on the Board of Directors, are Associates with the firm or hold senior leadership positions. Each person’s contributions drive the firm’s success, whether they bring technical expertise or business acumen – exercising their skills obtained from the Engineering and Management program.
What inspired you to give back to McMaster with the C.F. Crozier & Associates Inc. Bursary?
Supporting students as they navigate through their education, as many of us have, can be crucial early on in their careers. I believe in doing what we can, when we can, to nurture aspiring engineers and mentor them into successful professionals. Our firm employs many McMaster Engineering graduates, so it seemed very appropriate to support the program and young students with our bursary.
What advice would you give a current Eng & Management student to help position them for success?
The Engineering and Management program exposed me to many facets of business at a young age, which I found fascinating. I would encourage students of the program to embrace business opportunities using both the business and engineering aspects of the program. Pursue entrepreneurialism while leaning on the skills you have learned in the Engineering and Management program.
