Step 1: Getting started using Mosaic
Welcome to McMaster Engineering!
All students are encouraged to watch this introductory video on our course registration system, Mosaic, your undergraduate calendar and more
Step 2: Getting enrolled in classes
This is your pathway to enrolling into your courses this academic year. Please follow each step carefully.
iBioMed Automatic Timetable: Your ticket to a conflict-free timetable using our automatic block enrolment system.
Every student will have a specific enrolment appointment, which is the designated time you’re allowed to go into Mosaic and enrol into each of your courses. You can find your enrolment appointment in the Student Centre on the right-hand side. Click on “open enrolment dates” to find your specific enrolment appointment.
Your Shopping Cart is where you’ll put classes before you enroll into them. It’s just like buying the things you love, but for your brain. You can add or remove courses from your Shopping Cart as you plan your timetable. Access it in Create My Timetable and in your Student Centre.
WHMIS 1A00 is a mandatory health and safety course that must be completed in Level 1. iBioMed students will be automatically enrolled into WHMIS 1A00. This one-hour training session must be completed during the first week of classes and takes approximately one hour. You will complete WHMIS online via Avenue to Learn.
For students in IBEHS, both WHMIS 1A00 and BIOSAFE 1BS0 are prerequisites that must also be taken during the first week of classes. IBEHS students will be automatically enrolled into both WHMIS 1A00 and BIOSAFE 1BS0.
How to enrol
You’re officially ready to enrol! Here’s what you need to do:
- Navigate to Mosaic and login.
- Click the “Create my Timetable” tile
Your program has specific requirements that must be completed before you are eligible to enter Level 2.
IBEHS 1P10 – Health Solutions Design Projects I: Introduction to Engineering Fundamentals and Design Intergrated Cornerstone Design Projects in Engineering
IBEHS 1EP6 – Entrepreneurship in Biomedical Innovation: From Bench to Market
MATH 1ZA3 – Engineering Mathematics I (Calculus I)
MATH 1ZB3 – Engineering Mathematics II – A (Calculus II)
MATH 1ZC3 – Engineering Mathematics II – B (Linear Algebra)
CHEM 1E03 – Gerneral Chemistry for Engineering I
PHYSICS 1D03 – Introductory Mechanics
PHYS 1E03 – Waves, Electricity and Magnetic Fields
MATH 1ZA3 is a prerequisite to MATH 1ZB3. Students must successfully complete MATH 1ZA3 to take MATH 1ZB3.
PHYS 1D03 is a prerequisite to PHYS 1E03. Students must successfully complete PHYS 1D03 to take PHYS 1E03.
We offer all of the iBioMed I core courses in the Spring and Summer terms except for IBEHS 1P10 & 1EP6. We strongly encourage students to consider reducing their loads in iBioMed I and spread out the courses into the Spring and Summer terms. Please talk to Academic Advisor to determine if this is a good option for your academics.
You’ll also need to choose and enrol in your own electives. This can be done using Create My Timetable via Mosaic.
IBEHS 1 students have 1 course or three-units worth of elective courses. Typically, students would take one elective in either the fall term or the winter term. You can complete this course in the spring/summer term or before you graduate from the iBioMed program.
Engineering programs are accredited under the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB). Therefore, your complementary studies elective courses must be from a specific list of approved courses. Some of the courses have an asterisk beside them. Courses with the symbol “§” are not acceptable for the three-unit complementary studies elective required in IBEHS I.
We recommend having a few options selected for your complementary studies elective course as you are not guaranteed a seat in the course.
Step 4: After enrolment: Tips, tricks and FAQs
