Over 50 graduates came together on campus on September 17 to celebrate their milestone reunions; 20 of which celebrated 50 years from classes ‘70, ‘71, and ‘72.
Alumni reunited with friends, roommates, professors and current students.
The Reunion began with opening remarks from Dean Heather Sheardown, followed by comments from McMaster University President, David Farrar.
During the brunch portion of the event, Alan Smith, an engineering professor from 1969, shared a toast.
“Although I am not a Mac graduate, I think I speak for all of you when I say I’m glad I came to Mac. I would ask you all to charge [lift] your glasses and be up standing as I propose a toast for the continued success of our Faculty.”
Guests were given the chance to reminisce and flip through Marmors, vintage merch and memories.
I found myself!
Some attendees even showed up in their own Mac Eng gear, like these jackets from the 90s!
Following brunch, alumni visited a student showcase to connect with four Mac Eng clubs and teams. Later, they headed to the JHE field for drinks and refreshments and tours of campus.
Some alumni in attendance have children who are currently attending McMaster. They shared advice they gave their children when choosing McMaster Engineering.
Start working right away. There will be good days and challenging days but don’t let the highs and lows get too high or too low.
There’s a great faculty to support you if you ever need it.
