Overview
Michael has been a Sessional Lecturer in the Bachelor of Technology Program since 2006. In September, 2013 he assumed the role of Program Chair for Civil Engineering Infrastructure Technology. He teaches courses in Geotechnical and Foundation Engineering, Engineering Economics, Numerical Methods, and Communications for Engineers. Michael teaches in both the 4-Year and Degree Completion Programs in B.Tech., as well as in the Department of Civil Engineering.

Michael served as 2014/15 President of the Pile Driving Contractors Association. In his work with Bermingham Michael travelled to over 40 countries and has worked on major civil engineering projects on 6 continents.
Michael worked for Bermingham Foundation Solutions for 18-years prior to his current position at McMaster. His roles at Bermingham included: Product Manager; Engineering Manager; and Business Development Manager. His main areas of expertise include: pile driving and deep foundations; foundation load testing (including Bermingham’s patented ‘Statnamic’ Technology); as well as the use of ‘Energy Piles’ for heating and cooling buildings and bridges. Michael is active on committees of many industry organizations such as the ASTM, ASCE Geo-Institute, and the Deep Foundations Institute.
In his spare time Michael enjoys running, hot yoga, golfing, and spending time at his cottage with his wife and two boys.
