On May 11, the McMaster Manufacturing Research Institute (MMRI) will host its 8th Annual Industry Open House and Manufacturing Forum. This event will also be the official grand opening of MMRI’s new, 21,000 square foot, state-of-the-art facility at McMaster Innovation Park.
The MMRI has been a strategic partner to industry since 1999. By applying world-class expertise and cutting-edge facilities they have been integral to supporting and solving manufacturers’ challenges.
The grand opening of this space will provide us with even more resources to support the surrounding industry community. The MMRI is looking forward to welcoming people with an interest in manufacturing to our new facility during this year’s annual open house and learning more about how we can help their company.
The grand opening will kick off with a presentation from this year’s keynote speaker, Dr. Tony Schmitz, Professor, University of Tennessee, who will be discussing machine learning, a core AI technology to improve machining operations. This will be followed by a panel discussion with industry leaders from companies such as TERAGO, Berger Precision Ltd, and AI Materia Inc. The open house will feature dynamic displays of current research involving graduate and undergraduate students as well as research staff and faculty. There will also be guided tours of major research facilities including the Nuclear Reactor, the Canadian Centre for Electron Microscopy and the Centre for Advanced Light Microscopy.
This event is a great opportunity to connect with our researchers and industry partners and to tour many of our research locations to get an inside look at all the impactful work we are doing, particularly in the areas of advanced manufacturing, automation and robotics.
