A Message from Ishwar K. Puri, Dean of Engineering:

McMaster Engineering remains heartbroken by the racially-motivated attack on five members of London’s Muslim community last weekend. On behalf of the Faculty, I want to extend our deepest condolences to the families and friends of the of those who were killed and injured in this baseless criminal act.

One of the victims was Madiha Salman, a beloved member of the Western Engineering community and an accomplished engineer who was working towards her PhD in civil engineering.

We stand in solidarity with Canada’s Muslim community and Western Engineering in condemning this violent act of hate and racism. What happened in London reinforces our commitment to working towards an equitable, diverse and inclusive environment at McMaster Engineering, and indeed, across our country.

We support all of those in our community who are in mourning, and we encourage students who may need support during this time to reach out to the following resources:
